About this plant
A vigorous and stunning deciduous vine with twining growth habit, this plant showcases cascading racemes of fragrant, violet-purple flowers in spring, creating a dramatic display. Recommended for hardiness in USDA Zones 5-9, it thrives in moderate temperatures and requires full sun exposure for optimal bloom. Foliage turns a delicate yellow in fall, adding autumnal interest to the landscape. It prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil and is moderately deer resistant. Mature height can reach as high as 30 feet, with support, making it ideal for arbors, pergolas, or trellises. This plant produces no significant fruit but serves as a pollinator magnet, adding vibrant beauty and ecological benefits to any garden.
