About this plant
This deciduous shrub showcases a dense, upright habit with a mature height ranging from 8 to 12 feet and a spread of about 6 to 10 feet, making it an excellent choice for hedges, borders, or as a standalone feature. Suitable for USDA zones 3–7, it thrives in full sun and well-drained, slightly alkaline to neutral soils. Boasting vibrant purple, single flowers in spring, it fills the air with a delightful fragrance that attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. This lilac variety has no significant fall color, but its lush green foliage provides beauty throughout the growing season. Deer resistance is a notable trait, making it a reliable option for areas with wildlife. Tolerant of cold temperatures, it performs exceptionally well in cooler climates and is ideal for cottage gardens, traditional landscapes, or informal screens.
