About this plant
This elegant deciduous tree showcases a stunning upright, pyramidal habit with smooth, exfoliating bark that adds visual interest year-round. Hardy in USDA Zones 5-8, it thrives in temperate climates, preferring well-drained, acidic, and moist soils. Stewartia pseudocamellia offers captivating white camellia-like flowers during summer, enhancing gardens with their beauty. In the fall, its foliage transforms into a fiery display of red, orange, and yellow hues, providing seasonal charm. Mature height typically reaches 20–40 feet, while the spread is proportionate, delivering a balanced form. It is resistant to deer browsing, making it an excellent addition to deer-prone areas. This tree is a perfect centerpiece for formal gardens or woodland landscapes, offering year-round aesthetic appeal.
