About this plant
Rosmarinus officinalis 'Irene', commonly known as Trailing Rosemary, is a sprawling evergreen shrub with a low, cascading habit ideal for ground cover or hanging from balcony planters or retaining walls. This aromatic herb displays lovely blue flowers, which bloom from winter to spring, adding a splash of color to your garden. It thrives in hardiness zones 8 through 10 and prefers full sun with temperatures ranging from 65°F to 75°F for optimal growth. Deer tend to avoid this plant, making it a reliable choice for regions prone to wildlife browsing. At maturity, 'Irene' achieves a height of approximately 1 to 2 feet with a spread of 3 to 5 feet. Perfect for rock gardens or as a fragrant addition to cooking, this rosemary variety combines utility with beauty in any landscape.
