Prunus c. 'Thundercloud' (pink)

This deciduous tree exhibits a rounded to spreading habit and is well-suited for zones 5–9, thriving in moderate climates with temperatures ranging from 20°F to 95°F. It boasts stunning deep purple foliage throughout the growing season, transitioning to a striking bronze-red in fall. In early spring, it produces fragrant soft pink flowers, adding visual and aromatic appeal to the landscape. While it does not bear significant fruit, it is an exceptional ornamental choice. It prefers well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil and is moderately drought-tolerant once established. Reaching a mature height of 15–25 feet and a width of 15–20 feet, it forms a rounded crown, making it a picturesque choice for gardens or as a statement tree. Though it is not completely deer-resistant, its vibrant foliage and seasonal interest outweigh this consideration for many gardeners. Its elegant structure and hardy nature make it a versatile addition to yards, parks, or street plantings.
