About this plant
This deciduous shrub or small tree features a dense, low-branching habit and produces stunning rose-purple flowers shaped like elongated tulips in mid to late spring before the leaves emerge. It thrives in USDA hardiness zones 4–8 and prefers temperatures suited to these zones. While its foliage does not produce notable fall color, its attractive shape adds year-round interest. This magnolia grows well in well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil and requires a sunny to partial-shade location. Mature height typically reaches 8–10 feet, with a similar spread, and it is generally resistant to deer browsing. With a refined, rounded form, Magnolia x 'Ann' provides an elegant ornamental touch to any landscape without producing noticeable fruit.
