About this plant
Hosta 'Sum and Substance' is a stunning perennial plant known for its large, slightly corrugated, chartreuse to golden-yellow leaves that create a robust, lush ground cover. This shade-loving plant thrives in USDA hardiness zones 3 through 8, preferring cooler climates with temperatures that range between 60°F to 80°F. Its full, mounding habit can reach a mature height of up to 36 inches, making it an excellent choice for adding texture and volume to shaded garden areas. The leaves are moderately deer-resistant, helping maintain its beauty in vulnerable gardens. In summer, it produces tall spikes adorned with pale lavender flowers, adding a delicate touch of seasonal color. This low-maintenance, eye-catching hosta is perfect for borders, woodland gardens, or as a focal point in shaded areas.
