About this plant
This deciduous shrub boasts a compact, upright habit and is renowned for its vibrant early-spring display of bright yellow flowers that densely cover its branches, creating a dramatic and eye-catching feature. Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5-8, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soils. Reaching a mature height of 5-6 feet with a similar spread, it maintains a tidy shape with minimal pruning required. While it does not produce notable fruit, its show-stopping floral display more than compensates. This shrub exhibits moderate deer resistance, making it a reliable choice for landscapes where browsing is a concern. With no significant fall color, the plant primarily serves as a spring accent, ushering in the season with its cheerful blooms. Its low-maintenance requirements and adaptability make it a valuable addition to mixed borders, foundation plantings, or garden focal points.
