Camellia jap. 'Elegans Splendor' (pink)

This espaliered evergreen shrub thrives in a well-structured and compact growth habit, making it ideal for training against walls or fences. Hardy in USDA zones 7-9, it performs best in temperatures ranging from 25°F to 85°F and offers excellent deer resistance. Its glossy, dark green foliage remains year-round, while its striking pink semi-double blooms appear in late winter to spring, adding color and interest to the garden. While it doesn’t offer notable fall foliage changes, its flowers are the showstopper. It prefers acidic, well-drained soils rich in organic matter and grows to a manageable height of about 6-8 feet when espaliered. This plant provides a stunning architectural feature for gardens with its formal, layered shape and is well-suited for courtyards, terraces, or as a living fence.
