About this plant
This deciduous shrub or small tree features an upright yet spreading habit, showcasing clusters of showy, white flowers in spring that create an eye-catching display. Recommended for USDA hardiness zones 5 to 9, it thrives in moderate climates with cooler temperatures, performing best in well-drained, moist soil with a slightly acidic pH. In the fall, leaves transform into a stunning blend of reddish-purple tones, adding seasonal interest. Its rounded or oval shape matures to an approximate height of 15–20 feet and width of 20–25 feet. Deer-resistant and bird-friendly, it produces attractive red berry-like fruit in late summer that acts as a food source for wildlife. Perfect for woodland gardens, borders, or ornamental use, this plant has excellent adaptability and attention-grabbing floral beauty.
