About this plant
Acer palmatum 'Moonfire' is a striking Japanese maple, prized for its unique deep purple-red foliage. The leaves emerge in spring with a dark red to burgundy coloration that intensifies to a rich purple tone, especially in full sun. In autumn, the foliage transitions to vibrant shades of scarlet, creating seasonal interest. This elegant tree has an upright, rounded habit and a delicate, refined structure, making it ideal for smaller landscapes, patio gardens, or as a specimen tree. 'Moonfire' thrives in partially shaded areas but can tolerate full sun in cooler climates with adequate moisture.
