Larix d. 'Horstmann's Recurva'

Horstmann's Recurve European Larch
ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

This unique deciduous conifer forms a weeping, irregular habit and is prized for its architectural growth pattern. It thrives in Zones 3-6 with a preference for cooler climates, tolerating temperatures well below freezing. In fall, the soft, green needles turn a vibrant golden-yellow before dropping, revealing its twisting branches for winter interest. It prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils and does best in full sun. This small, upright, and sculptural form reaches a mature height of 8-10 feet with a spread of 3-4 feet, making it ideal for rock gardens, specimen plantings, or smaller landscapes. It is generally deer-resistant, adding to its appeal in areas with browsing wildlife. No significant fruit or flowers are present, but its distinct form and eye-catching structure make it a standout choice.
