Styrax japonicus (white)

JAPANESE SNOWBELL
ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

This deciduous tree boasts a graceful, rounded habit with a broadly spreading crown and horizontal branches that provide a delicate and airy appearance. Hardy to USDA zones 5-8, it prefers mild to moderate climates, with ideal temperatures ranging from 50°F to 85°F. In spring to early summer, it produces cascading clusters of bell-shaped, white blooms that emit a subtle fragrance, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Fall foliage transitions to warm shades of yellow and orange, adding seasonal interest. Although Styrax japonicus tolerates a range of soils, it thrives in well-drained, rich loamy soil with moderate moisture. This tree grows to a mature height of 20-30 feet, with a similar spread, and maintains a lightweight structure, making it suitable for smaller landscapes. It demonstrates moderate deer resistance and can form a beautiful focal point with its ornamental shape and elegant flowers.
