Metasequoia glyptostroboides (BBP)

DAWN REDWOOD
ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

This deciduous conifer features an upright, pyramidal habit and a graceful appearance, making it a standout addition to any landscape. Hardy in USDA Zones 4-8, it thrives in a range of soil types, preferring moist, well-draining conditions. Its feathery, fern-like foliage emerges bright green in spring and develops a warm, coppery-orange hue in fall before shedding for winter. Tolerant of both heat and cold, it performs best in temperatures ranging from 55-85°F. While it bears small, oval cones, they are not particularly ornamental. This tree can reach a mature height of 70-100 feet with a spread of 15-25 feet, forming a symmetrical, pyramidal shape. Known for its moderate deer resistance, it’s an excellent choice for parks, large gardens, and as a focal specimen. This robust and fast-growing tree is a true fossil of the plant world, earning admiration for its history and adaptability.
